Update 6/6/24: Voice of Culture will be on summer break from our residence at North Community High School. We will have one practice per month over the summer in a community location, along with several other observances like Juneteenth, Floatilla of Negroes, Black August and more. House of Culture will be relocating to a more grounded location over the summer of 2024 and aims to open in Fall 2024/Winter 2025.
Update 9/9/21: Voice of Culture is taking a programming break to figure out what we want to do next. Any donations will help pay for our storage room during this time. Kenna has gotten some sizeable grants to work on the "House of Culture" project in North Minneapolis.
Update 4/7/21: we have secured a place downtown Minneapolis! We are at the Cowles Center, which is on sixth and Hennepin and we are on the fifth floor in the BodyPrayers space. At this time any donations go towards fixing up our new place, and getting supplies for more virtual and digital offerings.
Update 2/8/21: We are moving out of the Northside Healing Space by the end of February! Donations will subsidize our use of community spaces to continue weekly practice. Please email [email protected] for more info.
Original: Right now we are fixing up our space for the cold times and designing some new Voice of Culture attire for the core members. Other projects include stipends for company members to teach and drum for classes around town. We also eat out and treat ourselves to workshops and travel.
